Our two previous posts were considered as prologue of this post…or it can also be said as this post is the epilogue of the previous 2 posts in our blog 🙂

Last Monday, I shared about Salmonella inside our poop that eventually stayed on our skin. Last Wednesday, Kroten shared pictures of our love competition with our human cousin, Satrio or Rio for short. Today, we sum those2 posts together.

Rio is a very active little baby, he is now 10,5 months but he shows  no fear at all. He is so curious about us.

When he still couldn’t do anything but sleeping, he loved to hold mommy’s turtle toy. When he finally could sit down, he always wanted to see us while being carried by his mother or our mommy.

And now that he has ability to crawl…..

He starts chasing us down.

First, he was only poking my shell.

Then, he started grabbing Kroten’s shell and moved her like he was playing with toy car, no picture was taken because mommy took Kroten straight away and put her back inside her tank.

Later, when he saw me, he poked my head and forced it into my shell.

Since we are 2 nicest turtles in the world, we never tried to bite him (as we never did bite anyone unless we think it was a food).

Actually, whatever he did to us was because he was so curious with us.

I know one day we will be great buddies 🙂

One thing that makes our relationship difficult to work is those little creatures called salmonella. Babies are easier to be infected by those tiny bacteria than grown-ups. Since mommy doesn’t want anything happens to her favorite nephew…she rarely let him touch us and when he did touch us, she cleaned his hands straight away. And she never let him touched us while we were still wet…always waited till we are full dried.

Beside that, whenever he comes to visit us, mommy avoids touching us as often as she touches us when he isn’t around. She is afraid she might forget to wash her hands before touching Rio. We also spend most of our time inside the tank, she won’t let us roam around the house like we usually do when he isn’t visiting us. In short, when he comes, our freedom becomes limited 😦 We will be as free as before once he becomes, at least, 5 years old.

So…what do you think of our relationship? 😉

He sure looks like he will be a turtle lover! I had a turtle puppet for my son when he was little and it was his favorite!

I think Rio will continue to love you guys and your mommy is being very smart to limit how much he has contact with you. He can always look at your in your tank, right??? I thing you guys are going to love each other for a long , long time!!! And he is about as cute as you…almost!!! 🙂

The problem is…when he was looking at us, I was looking at mommy and then started moving my hand and raising my head as high as I could (as a sign that I wanted to put my hand on her hand and wanted her to rub my neck)…because she was holding him, she ignored my gestures 😦

Sometimes it’s hard when you have to share mommy’s love with others, but mommy’s just trying to keep Rio safe. I think one day Rio will be a good friend of yours, when he’s a little older, and it’s good to have human friends who appreciate and will help protect wild life. (Not that you’re very wild!)

I understand that…and I also enjoy the extra attention she gave after he went home 🙂

He is starting to learn how to walk now…I just hope he won’t decide to take a swim together with us.

Too bad they dont invent something like an ultraviolet portal you can pass through to be cleansed of germs. (like they do in the movies) But not being able to touch you will make him even more curious about you. Hes destined to be a turtle lover someday. and maybee owner?

    • Kame says:

I hope that kind of machine will be invented in the future 🙂
It will help our chance of being people’s pet .

Aunt Sara…you have no idea how curious he becomes!! I should warn you that he is a curious little devil 😉

  10. It’s great that young children, like your human cousin Rio, can appreciate turtles. This is a great age for children since they’re like sponges and can absorb so much information! Not to worry about your limited freedom—one day Rio will have plenty of playtime with you guys once he’s older. That ought to be lots of fun!

    • Kame says:

Our only hope is that when he is old enough to play with us…he will not forget to wash his hands 😉
Mommy and I hate to see him got sick because of those salmonella

Such a sweetie pie! I am sure he will grow up into a turtle lover too. 😀

PS: The soft toy is a delight. I want to get one like it too!

    • Kame says:

We hope so too 😉 He is quite a naughty boy even at this early age…and we hope he doesn’t always take mommy’s time all for him when he sleeps over. We feel abandon 😦

The soft toy was sooo cheap, she wants to have a bigger one.
