Hi there….

I am here to share about Papoe’s newest behaviour. I can’t let Papoe writes it by himself because he won’t confess why he did it.

…but, first of all, Happy 3 month gotcha day my sweet little Papoe 🙂

Now … moving on to his mischief.

You know that I have been letting my turtles to sleep next to my bed on their own bed made of some pieces of fabrics since I had them. Before I put them on their ‘bed‘ I dry them all first because I don’t want the floor to be wet with their tank water.

I used old cloth to wipe them. At first, Papoe seemed to enjoy the drying up process…but since two weeks ago, he keeps on doing showing his dislike toward the cloth.

You will see some photo to show his feeling. This happened last week.

Opening his mouth and looked so scary

Me: “Calm down Papoe!”

Papoe: “No!! get it off of me!”

So…I tested him by taking him out of the cloth and touched him with my fingers

He seemed to enjoy the touch

I put him back into the cloth just to see his reaction.

Roaaarrrr

Papoe: ” I don’t like this cloth!”

He still managed to look at the camera to pose even though he was angry

He bit the cloth

I took him out again because I didn’t want him to keep biting the cloth

He didn’t mind my fingers rubbing him

and gave a smile to the camera

It’s not just that cloth…he acts like that toward all clothes. I wonder why he dislike the cloth so much.

To avoid him being stress up…I only wipe him for less than 4 second and them let him roam around the room before finally putting him on his ‘bed’.

I wish I know what’s making him do that. Right now, I am a confuse mom 😦

    All the best..

Thank you Bikram…I hope this is just a phase that will go away

    • edlaine says:

Oliver is like that, but he love to sleep in the clothes, he just dont like me to dry him of, he so impatience.

      • Novroz says:

Same with papoe, I think the drying up process is what he doesn’t like because he doesnt mind sleeping inside the cloth

      • edlaine says:

And mommy i dont think this going to change, Oliver is one year old and still like that, but besides he bite the clothes he try to running and force his legs the most he can, so now i wash him just a little and just carefully dry him JUST A LITTLE, for dont stress him out and i be carefull for dont wash his face, just afraid the clhorine irritate his eyes (i read online, dont know for sure).

      • Novroz says:

I hope he will change but if not, that’s okay…because I just did a test few hours ago.
I dries him in the same clothes as the picture and again he opened his mouthy but when I thrust my finger he immediately closed his mouth instead of biting my finger.

  2. I used to have turtles and they didn’t like the cloth either. I would put paper towel on a little box and let them walk on it a little, rub the shell once or twice and let the air do the rest. I don’t know if you have tried it already.
Btw, ti looks like a plastic turtle, like a little toy, too cute.

    • Novroz says:

      Thank you DS 🙂
I haven’t tried that way yet and it sounds applicable for Papoe.
My other two turtles don’t mind with the cloth, Papoe’s attitude really confused me.

Hahaha Papoe will like that, he is still cute because he is a baby. I am not sure once he gets bigger 😉

Wow!…what a temper little Papoe has. But I got to tell you, he actually looks like he is smiling in a few of those pics. But you would know if he’s mad. Maybe he needs softer material or something.

    Papoe, don’t yell at mommy!
    Hugs Aunt Deb xx

    • Novroz says:

He does have this smiling shaped mouth Deb 😉
…but I know he was angry. He always bites the cloth and sometimes tries to bite my finger too while he is still in the cloth 😦
It’s so worrisome. I have tried the softer one but still he starts roaring (of course without sound). I will try what DS has suggested now.

      Thank you Deb

    • Papoe says:

I didn’t mean it Aunty Deb…the cloth made me 😦
      Sorry…

are you sure he didn’t like it? He looked like he was smiling in the photos!

  5. Binky says:

Papoe does look pretty angry at the cloth. I wonder why? Like DS above suggested, maybe a paper towel, or maybe a sponge might work better?

Happy 3 month Gotcha Day, Papoe!! Papoe does look pretty freaky when he’s in that cloth. Funny pics!

Papoe Roars!! That’s SO funny!! He makes me wag!! He really is a great little Mischief Maker – I love that they get to sleep alongside your bed – so sweet!! 🙂

So happy you guys are going to join in the Mischief Master Class Book – Woohoo!! It’s gonna be lots of fun – thanks 🙂

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂

    • Novroz says:

      Thank you Snoopy 🙂
Sleeping beside me is one way to get them closer to me…it worked well with Kame and Kroten…when they woke up, they would start following me around…that is the wonder of letting turtles sleep on the floor (with some clothes/pieces of fabrics) next to their human 😉

Thank you for making the book Snoopy…I have found the right mischief to share 😉
I will email you soon to ask some questions.

  9. Rooo Papoe is such a clever and determined little turtle – I want a little buddy like that too now! *waggy tail*

Oh my gosh, that little Papoe is SO smart to show you what he doesn’t like! And you’re a wonderful mom for noticing his reaction and not wanting to stress him out. These pictures are adorable, even if he’s angry LOL. I can’t wait to show my daughter these pictures tonight – we both love turtles! 😀

    • Novroz says:

      Thank you Daisy Momma 🙂
Papoe’s reaction is impossible to miss…I was surprised the first time he opened his mouth.
I hope your daughter likes the photos 😀

  11. Hey Papoe, Jet here.

Dude, I’m sorry you do not like the cloth… perhaps you are sensitive like my Mom. Perhaps it itches or tickles him… hmm… a mystery for Detective Jetty… student of Scooby Doo Academy!

Mom asked me to share on a serious note that she is chemically sensitive. She uses Ecos laundry detergent, which you can find MUCH cheaper at Costco. She also can use 7th Generation detergent and Ecover, too.

Ahhh… maybe the detergent bothers Papoe, too????

    • Papoe says:

      Hi Jet 🙂
Hmmm…it could be the reason I hated those clothes. But I don’t think Indonesia has that kind of detergent brand. Mommy is the one with detergent allergy, it’s possible I also have it.

Thank you for sharing it with us Jet…say thank to your mom too 🙂

      • OMD/OMT (oh my dog/oh my turtle)… we had no idea you were resided in Indonesia Papoe. Wowee! Ask Mommy to investigate the detergent with the least amount of chemical fragrance, no color, and the shortest list of ingredients… and Papoe, does Mommy use bleach?

  12. Donna says:

Am I the only one who think he is cute when he open his mouth? 😀
Idk why he hate clothes, but this event make me think that he started to accept you as his mom by showing his dislikes toward clothes. It’s like he share you his secret. 😉

    • Novroz says:

Well…if you like that one, I have another photo of him opening his mouth tomorrow 😉 …so adorable!

Papoe is still hiding underneath his basking area when I come into to the room…but at least he doesn’t fully refuse my touch anymore. Maybe this matter with the cloth can also be his way of sharing, like you said 😉

I loved that blurry shot. It really made his emotions come to life. I am sure he may not mind it as he gets older. Remember how with young kids, all kinds of silly things would seem scary. He will grow out of it. Maybe try smaller cloth, with a different pattern? How do I pronounce his name?

    • Novroz says:

      Thank you Sara 🙂
The funny thing about the cloth is that he doesn’t mind sleeping inside it, he only minds when I wipe him with it.

We pronounce it papoo, but the pa is liked it papa.

pake handuk yg lembut mb,mgkn dy bs lbh nyaman..tp 4 kura2q jg g suka di handukin sih, kcuali leo yg paling penyabar

    • Novroz says:

Kalo handuk malah bisa bahaya…kalo digigitin papoe kan malah bisa ketelen wol2nya itu.
Papoe belum terbiasa aja sih…semoga lama2 terbiasa 🙂

      • cece says:

wuih buagus banget mbk si papoe… cute banget… mahal g ya papoe harganya.. aku jadi pengen beli… tu namanya kura apa ya???? kira-kira harganya berapa ya??/

      • Novroz says:

Iya makin hari Papoe makin cute >.<
Waktu beli ga nyangka dia bakal jadi super cute gini soalnya Papoe ga punya marking kayak RES, polos aja gitu.
Papoe itu jenis Kura2 dada pink berleher pendek. Dia saudara dekat sama kura2 leher panjang, jauh hubungannya sama RES.
Lumayan mahal sih, waktu sy beli ukurannya masih 3cm dan harganya 150rb.

  16. Tony McGurk says:

Beautiful photos. Papoe is such a cutie pie.

  17. Bahaha! These are awesome photos Novroz! Dear Papoe’s expression made me burst out laughing!! This post is just hilarious!! =D Thanks for making my day!

    • Novroz says:

      Thank you Poppy 🙂
You know…I often teased him with the cloth just to see him give me that expression again 😉
I really don’t want to stress him but the way he hates the cloth really makes my day too 😀

Haha! Papoe is sooo cute! It always looks like he’s smiling! 🙂
