It’s the last week of the month…time to do another post on my sweet Kame-chan. I have posted this in my own blog, Polychrome Interest, back in May 12, 2007. It was written in my native language, Bahasa Indonesian. Kame wasn’t even a year old under my care.
This is a story of my Kame and my friend Yana (that’s her photo above). Yana and I used to work together in a school, she was the librarian. In May 12, 2007, she and my other friend, Miska, came to my house just to chat and laugh together…you know, girls’ talk 😉
I let Kame walk as she pleased at that time. She enjoyed crowd. We were in the living room. I picked Kame up like the picture shown below. She would stay on my hand for a long time, she even fell asleep on my hand from time to time (I shared her sleeping moment in my next Wordless Wednesday).
Now…here comes the funny part!!
I put Kame on Yana’s palm with her face facing Yana. She always stayed still on my hand, but for no clear reason, Kame backed away from her…she was walking backward trying to climb down Yana’s hand. I thought it was because she didn’t know Yana. So, I put Kame on Miska’s hand…and Kame stayed still!!! That was the first time she saw Miska just like Yana.
We then moved to my room. Kame was sleeping….when she woke up, I took her on my hand again and gave her a nose kiss. I wanted to test whether the same thing would happen again.
I put Kame on Yana’s hand again…and she – again – wanted to climb down.
Things became funnier when I did a little trick on her. I put Kame on Yana’s hand with her face looking at me. Kame stayed still – for the first time – on Yana’s hand….but then…Yana moved her hand so that Kame was facing her face. Even till this day, I can’t stop laughing remembering what had happened when Kame saw Yana’s face…she tried to recognize Yana’s face and when she seemed to know her, she immediately walking backward not caring she might fall from her hand. That was hilarious!!!
No matter how many times I tried, Kame never wanted to stay on Yana’s hand but had no problem with Miska’s hand.
I am still wondering why she did that!!
Too bad Kame and Yana never met again after that day…so we will never know whether she will still act the same toward her or not 😉

Thank you Daisy’s Mom… having Kame was one of the best moments of my life.
Animals of all kinds have a good instinct of people. Hard to say why Kame felt that way toward her. Maybe she didn’t like what she was wearing, or just the color of what she was wearing. It is a very funny story though…thanks for sharing it with us.

I don’t know bout color, but she never ran away because of anything I wear. Maybe it was her face because Kame backed away when seeing her face. Kame’s expression was also funny.

It could well have been the smell of her pheromones. Animals are so much more sensitive to it than we are. I know a few people who are lovely persons, but animals in general do not take to them at all. It is not always a character thing! 🙂

That is quite interesting. Animals often sense things we don’t. Perhaps Yana had a strange sent on her, like that of a cat or dog or something else that Kame was afraid of.
That could be!
Kame never met a dog, so I never knew whether she was afraid of dog or not but she showed no fear at all toward cats. Maybe it’s just like Red said, the pheromone.
That’s funny! I guess Kame just didn’t feel comfortable on Yana’s hand. I wonder what it was that caused Kame to want to get off.

I think that it has something to do with an aura
something that all animals and reptiles etc can
see but that we humans cannot, and when they
feel happy with someone it is said that they have
a good aura about them making the animal or
reptile, bird or whatever feel happy 🙂

Yes it could have been anything I guess
but once they have a dislike for someone
