If you think that’s not unusual, check out how most Emydura (short necked turtle) sleeps😉

Photo belongs to Testudine.org

They slept with folded arms and neck.

About Papoe

Hi...I am named Papoe (read: pa-poo) because my origin is from Papua New guinea :) I am a Pink belly short Necked Turtle. Mommy adopted me on March 11, 2012. I am struggling with my body size...maybe I am a midget

      Have fun on your vacation🙂
…hope you’ll find a healthy turtle with charming personality. If I can help, I will help you…but don’t forget the fact that I am not an expert😉

Oh, so sweet, Papoe! But moms can be such pests with those cameras!🙂

And you are so right!! Last night, I saw her disturbing Kroten’s sleep with her camera *sigh* maybe we should hide her camera before we go to sleep😉

  9. I think they have their arms open so they can give hugs🙂

      Hi Libby🙂
Welcome to our blog…all about turtles.
I am always happy to meet people who love turtles. They are great pets, cold blooded with warm heart🙂

  11. maybe he feels super safe and secure… so he can just spread out!!! so adorable🙂

    • Novroz says:

      Hi Christine🙂
I think so too. The first time I brought him home, he would hide all his arms and legs inside. He slept exactly like the other two turles in the post…he has been mine for a year now and he is still shy but a bit open than before.

  12. Nekoneko says:

    Yes!! I think that too.🙂
I think this is Papoe’s way of showing you how much he trusts you that he would sleep so vulnerable like that. He knows nothing will hurt him so he doesn’t feel the need to “button up”.

    • Novroz says:

Button up is a good word🙂
I think so too. He is still very shy but he slowly shows me that he trusts me. He sleeps like that, he stands up on my hand, he even walks toward me although when I try to touch him he quickly button up again…It’ll take a lot of patience with him but I enjoy seeing his changes little by little.

Your too adorable for words, little Papoe.🙂

Let sleeping turtles lie – that’s what I say! Tee Hee

    Sweet dreams,

    Your pal Snoopy🙂
