As we have shared before, we always chase Mommy around before she goes to work (see Chasing Mommy). The chase doesn’t always go well because there’s an evil thing in our room. IT often deceives us. IT makes us think that we are chasing our Mommy where in fact IT alters us from Mommy.

What I meant by IT is something human called as MIRROR! Awful thing, I tell you!

"Ah! Mommy is over there"

“Ah! Mommy is over there”

"Mommy!! Hmm...how come I see another turtle looking at me?"

“Mommy!! Hmm…why is this turtle blocking my way?”

"Ah!! There you are!!"

“Ah!! There you are!!”

Don’t think IT only deceives me!!

IT also deceives Kurome!

  1. I will try that with Hell-mut too, bet he like the guy in the mirror :o) I always bark on this guy, but he is fearless, so I better run like you :o)

Snorts. I think I know that evil thing called a mirror. It shows a fat pig here at the Hotel Thompson. XOXO – Bacon

  3. Mags Corner says:

Shame on that evil mirror for fooling you cuties like that. We say cover that thing up so you can follow your mommy with no obstacles. Hugs and nose kisses

Hahaha!! Don’t feel badly… Mirrors freak out cats too… my lil’ Ting-Ting is scared silly of the strangely familiar “kitty” that she thinks lives in our closet. She will hiss and attack that “stranger” with fierce fury unless I leave that closet door closed in the bedroom so she can’t see herself in the changing mirror.

She’s very territorial and thinks she’s protecting us from some weirdly “scentless” cat trying to sneak up on us. So silly… but also so cute.

Humans have devised many strange devices for unknown purposes. You must always be aware!

  6. Terry Cramer says:

I have no experience with this thing you call mirror!

  7. Ok, now that’s the funniest thing. I wouldn’t have thought turtles would react to mirrors, but they’re very sight-oriented, right? Those pictures are great!

    Oh my! That’s HILARIOUS!!!

  9. Hey Guys

I don’t like the mirror either, I usually either bark at it or ignore it! 🙂

    Stay strong,

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂

  10. Misaki says:

Mummy doesn’t like mirrors either, she says they show her wrinkles lol

  11. xeristh says:

:D. Sometimes, I let my turtles reflect themselves in mirror. Once, one of them fluttering with her own reflection. I wonder do turtles realize that?

  12. Alice Audrey says:

I guess that’s proof positive that tortoises are visually oriented.

I also think they can differentiate colors…not so good but I think it’s not black and white for them.
I need to do more research on them to be sure.
