I still can’t post about my baby turtles yet because something bad had happened…again!!!
We no longer has the kittens because someone STOLE them when no one was at home 😦
The awful event happened Thursday evening (I wish I could write about it faster but my PC is in my dorm). My Sister In Law didn’t tell me straight away because she wanted to wait for me to be at home. I had plan to meet my fellow teachers from previous school, so I went home a bit late. She texted me asking whether I am going to go home or not, I said I will be home a bit late, she replied by saying be home soon, poor Uci has lost all her kids, someone stole them.
When I got home, I asked her the detail. My brother took my Uncle who was visiting from Padang to a mall. My in law went to a mini-market near our house. When she returned home, she didn’t saw the kitties but assumed they were playing somewhere because those active kitties often seemed disappear but then showed up again…but she saw a brick, helmet’s front glass inside the shelter and a wooden block we used to block the water during heavy rain was placed in front of the shelter. (I reconstructed the condition to show you)
The next morning she saw only Uci was sleeping inside the shelter. She looked around for the kitties and couldn’t find them anywhere.
The arrangement looked like something kids would do but the kids in my area never did something like that…and even if they did something like that they wouldn’t take the kittens far away and eventually they will return home.
It’s been 4 days now and the kitties haven’t returned yet 😦
If you have been following the story of these cats (here, here and here), you know that we never plan to adopt them and would gladly give them away if someone ask, of course we would wait for them to stop breastfeeding. To think that someone just came in and snatched them away when there was no one at home was unthinkable!! Really unthinkable!! Why would anyone do that???
Everyone in my family started thinking, did he/she/they take them for something bad like eating them or laboratory test or something else because nice people would ask. It turned out, our neighbor’s kitten was also gone.
It’s a mystery for us!!
I hope whoever took them don’t mean bad (false hope but it doesn’t hurt to hope such goodness)
Bye bye our little kitties…hope you are all in good health
Right now we are also worry about the mother, Uci. Uci is still feeding her babies. Now she had no babies to be breastfed and that causes her breast to swell. It looks painful but she is hanging there.
All we can do now is to comfort her. We don’t know how to treat such condition (any advice?) She is doing well, active as always and doesn’t make noise at all….but we still feel sad seeing her swollen breast.
She is now sleeping inside the house again. She was sleeping outside when her babies were still in the shelter we provided for them.
The saddest part is the way she keeps calling for her babies. Next to the shelter is a small ditch, she often looks at it and calls her babies as if she thinks that the babies might get caught in the ditch. She smells the shelter, the motorcycle because the babies often played underneath it, and all the places around the house. The way she calls them sounds so sad 😦 When she starts calling them, all I can do is telling her that your babies are not here anymore Uci, let’s just go inside.
It might sound crazy but I know the way she meows for food and to be let in into the house, those meows are different to the way she meows to call her missing babies. It sounds desperate and sad.
I fell so very sorry for her.I hope she gets over it soon and her breast stops swelling.
